Audi announces the arrival of the Q5 e-hybrid, with two plug-in hybrid versions now available in Spain.

The Audi Q5 increases its engine offering with the two Q5 e-hybrid plug-in hybrid variants for its two available body styles.

With 15 years already behind it, Audi began the month of September 2024 with the presentation of the third generation of the Q5 in its SUV body conventional to, a couple of months later, do the same with the coupé body version that the German brand calls SportbackThe new Audi Q5 range began its marketing with gasoline and diesel engines with technology mild hybrid (MHEV), now joining the offer are the versions Q5 e-hybrid with plug-in hybrid system.

So let's get straight to the nitty-gritty: its engine. Regardless of the body style chosen, the new Audi Q5 e-hybrid will be available in two power levels: 220 kW and 450 Nm of engine torque or 270 kW and 500 Nm of torque, making use in both cases of 2.0 kW 185 TFSI gasoline engine in combination with a 105 kW electric motor. This electric motor is integrated into the housing of the seven-speed S Tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission, which, in combination with the all-wheel drive, Quattro Ultra, is sent to all four wheels.

Forming part of this plug-in hybrid system is the high-voltage lithium-ion battery with a capacity that is increased to 25,9 kWh, approximately 45% more than its predecessor, and is located in the rear of the Audi Q5 e-hybrid. The maximum possible charging power using alternating current has been increased from 7,4 kW to 11 kW (three-phase), being able to go from 0 to 100% in 2,5 hours and, for charging, a mode 3 charging cable is included as standard. With this new battery, the Audi Q5 e-hybrid in its two engines is capable of driving up to 100 kilometers in fully electric mode.

Precisely in case of making use of it fully electric or EV mode It works as long as we do not deactivate it manually, if we activate the sport driving program "S", when starting the route guidance with the hybrid assistance activated or if we perform the kickdown maneuver, that is, if we give full acceleration at which point the combustion engine will activate or deactivate again at the end of the kickdown. In any case, while we use the totally electric mode the system will limit the top speed at 140km/h.

The available driving mode will obviously be the hybrid mode or hybrid, in which the system automatically maintains a specific charge level at all times as needed to save sufficient electrical energy for later use. In any case, the new Audi Q5 e-hybrid is capable of recovering a greater amount of energy in the braking and deceleration phases, and can even be readjusted on the MMI display in the transmission's D and M modes.

Audi Q5 Sportback E Hybrid

For the rest, the new Audi Q5 e-hybrid will remain similar to its siblings with a combustion engine and MHEV system, although it should be noted that the capacity of its trunk will be slightly reduced by the inclusion of the battery, being 438 liters for SUV and SUV bodywork 433 liters for the Sportback body that increases up to 1.358 liters y 1.300 liters respectively if we fold down the seats. It's worth noting that the 220 kW engine comes standard with the S sport suspension, and the 270 kW engine comes with standard equipment equivalent to the SQ5.

The new Audi Q5 e-hybrid with SUV body and a power of 220 kW is now available in Spain with a price starting from 68.240 Euros, while in the power of 270 kW it does so from the 82.250 Euros. On the other hand, the Q5 e-hybrid Sportback with 220 kW power starts from the 70.580 Euros and, with a power of 270 kW, it does so from the 84.570 Euros.
