The General Motors subsidiary delivers the first units of its electric van to FedEx, which wants to change its entire fleet by 2040.
BrightDrop, a subsidiary of General Motors , specializes in the development and manufacture of electric vans . It has developed several electric commercial vehicles and has finally delivered the first units from its plant to FedEx , one of the world's largest delivery companies.
The arrival of five units of the BrightDrop EV600 It represents a step forward in FedEx's plans for electric mobility for last-mile deliveries, something that is essential for the logistics company. Its most immediate plans include the incorporation of 500 units of this model throughout 2022. FedEx wants to gradually replace all of its vehicles with these electric vans.

This model was designed for use in American cities and features the typical look of these vehicles. An efficient solution, it has moved from development to production very quickly. It is based on General Motors' Ultium platform , which also serves as the foundation for the electric van that begins its production run this month.
The platform allows this vehicle to have a cargo capacity of 16,990 liters , distributed between the rear cargo area and other compartments within the vehicle. This cargo area features a safety system that detects cargo movement, making driving much safer. The maximum load this model can carry is 4,500 kg , so it has ample capacity for driving fully loaded.

The Ultium platform allows for the use of batteries that offer a range of 400 kilometers and can be recharged with a DC fast charger at up to 120 kW . With these figures, it provides enough charge to travel 247 kilometers in just one hour.
BrightDrop has received just over 18,000 orders for its two electric vehicles currently in production. Of these, 12,000 orders are for the EV600 and 5,400 are for the EV410, a similar but smaller model.
With this electric vehicle, FedEx aims to begin decarbonizing its fleet. The company's goal is to achieve total carbon neutrality by 2040. The addition of these vehicles will pave the way for incorporating zero-emission vehicles into its urban delivery fleet.
