Mercedes-Benz launches the new generation of eSprinter, which improves its performance

In 2019, the Mercedes-Benz eSprinter, an electric van designed for short-distance travel, came onto the market. Despite its size, the functionality of this vehicle was a bit lacking due to its limited range. To improve its performance, the brand has prepared a second generation of the van. This will initially be launched in the United States and Canada, while it will arrive in Europe at the end of 2023.

The design of the new sprinter It has been conceived in three modules. The first of them includes all high voltage components. It can be combined without changes with all model variants, regardless of the chosen body, axle width or battery size.

The second module is the one corresponding to the batteries. These are located in the lower part of the body. This prevents loss of space and the low centre of gravity allows for greater safety and more comfortable driving. The third module is located in the rear.

This includes the electric motor that drives the rear axle and can be found in all variants as well. The engine components are new, as is the electrified rear axle and this is the first time they have been used in an electric van.

In terms of its features, this new Mercedes-Benz eSprinter has a 113 kWh battery. This allows a range of 400 kilometres in the WLTP cycleHowever, the brand assures that in urban environments this autonomy can reach 500 kilometers. The load capacity amounts to 14 cubic meters and a maximum authorized weight of 4.250 kg.
