Polestar Polestar 5 Electric Cars
Polestar proves that recharging from 10 to 80 percent in just 10 minutes is possible
When this battery technology becomes more popular, critics of electric vehicles will run out of arguments regarding the time it takes to complete a recharge.
Using a prototype of its upcoming electric sedan, the Polestar 5 , the Swedish manufacturer has publicly demonstrated the charging capabilities of the final production version. To achieve this, the company has partnered with StoreDot, intending to utilize its Extreme Fast Charging technology.
The high charging speeds promised by StoreDot thanks to its XFC technology have indeed been achieved, increasing the battery pack charge of this Polestar 5 prototype from 10 to 80 percent in just 10 minutes . That's only slightly more than it would take to fill the tank at a conventional gas station with a combustion engine vehicle.

The Swedish manufacturer has completed the demonstration by publishing the charging curve of the Polestar 5 prototype. It shows not only that the charging remains consistent throughout the entire charging session, but also that it starts at 310 kW and subsequently exceeds 370 kW . This is something never before seen in any of the electric vehicles currently on sale.
Nothing will ever be the same again
Once the test was completed, Thomas Ingenlath, the current CEO of the Swedish firm, stated that time is one of life's luxuries that cannot be wasted. As a manufacturer of premium, high-performance electric vehicles, Polestar is therefore obligated to try to overcome one of the main barriers slowing the transition to electric mobility. And this barrier is none other than the anxiety some drivers experience regarding the need to recharge.

With this technology, Ingenlath noted, on long journeys it won't be unusual for the time required for a break to exceed the time actually available to fully recharge. The Polestar 5 prototype used in these tests has a 77 kWh battery pack. However, according to the manufacturer, this capacity could be increased to over 100 kWh in the near future. This would allow for the recovery of more than 300 km of range in just 10 minutes of charging.
