The Spanish Asphalt Rally Championship begins
Tomorrow marks the start of one of the most anticipated championships for all Spaniards: the Spanish Asphalt Rally Championship. With over 158 timed stages spread across 8 different sections, the Rally de La Vila Joiosa will be the perfect showcase to see this year's big new addition, the Lotus Exige driven by brothers Sergio and Diego Vallejo.
The absence of the current Spanish champion, Alberto Hevia, leaves in the hands of Xevi Pons the responsibility of taking the Nupel Global Racing Ford Fiesta S2000 to the top of the podium, and the Catalan is in top form since has been awarded the first of the SWRC.
But despite Pons' great form and the expectation caused by the Vallejo brothers' Exige, The main favourite of the rally is undoubtedly the local Miguel Fuster, who will be looking for his fifth victory in the home race with his Porsche 911 GT3, which has a new suspension.
Today at 8:30 p.m. the starting ceremony of the race will be held at the Alicante Provincial Council Palace and tomorrow from 7 a.m. the engines will start.
