Brutal! Ken Block climbs Pikes Peak with 1,400 CV under the hood
The well-known Climbkhana by Ken Block is finally out.
We had been waiting for this moment for a long time, almost a year to be precise. On October 19, 2016, Toyo Tire published a teaser that previewed one of the best Ghymkhanas by Ken Block to date. The American driver had tackled one of the most challenging climbs in the world, Pikes Peak, in his Ford Mustang Hoonicorn RTR V2, doing what he does best: keeping the car sideways at all times. The so-called Climbkhana by Ken Block had remained hidden until today, so it’s time to put on your headphones, turn up the volume and enjoy the show.

On this occasion, Ken Block is behind the wheel of his usual Ford 1965 Mustang, but in a much wilder version. In previous Ghymkhanas, the 6.7-liter V8 engine of this model delivered 845 CV, but thanks to the addition of two turbochargers, the powerplant now pushes output into uncharted territory for the American driver: 1,400 CV.

In one of the scenes of the video, Ken Block pays homage to Ari Vatanen in his classic Climb Dance (1990) by covering the sun with his hand. A curious anecdote that in no way turns Block’s Climbkhana into Vatanen’s cult video. Either way, Toyo Tires’ production never ceases to amaze us with razor-tight drifts like the one performed by the Long Beach driver at the well-known Devil’s Playground corner. Without a doubt, one of the riskiest and most spectacular moves in this incredible Climbkhana.
