OMODA 3: the brand's cheapest SUV for under €25.000

On April 26th, in the Shanghai Auto Show, OMODA (yes, that brand that sounds less and less like a secondary brand every day) is going to present its latest craze: the OMODA 3, a compact SUV with a groundbreaking design expected to be priced under €25.000.

But let's go by parts.

Energy Mecha Design: Car or Transformer?

The brand has decided to go all out and launch the world first crossover with an "energy mecha" design, a label that sounds like a marketing strategy, but actually translates into something much juicier: Sharp lines, cybernetic lights, impossible geometric shapes, and colors inspired by "quantum fluctuations". Yes, it sounds like bar science, but the thing looks . serious. Or at least, very different.

Artificial Intelligence that thinks (and evolves)

But design is just the beginning. OMODA has gone further, developing a new artificial intelligence platform who not only learns, but evolvesYes, like Pokémon, but without the Poké Ball. This AI will be able to personalize the driving experience and adapt to you as the days go by, like that roommate who first steals your cookies and then buys you your favorites.

The OMODA 3 will be the first car on the planet to mount this platformAnd if it works as promised, we could be talking about a turning point in smart mobility. If not, we can always enjoy its futuristic look.

Segment B, but eager to eat the big ones

Not everything is cyber smoke: the OMODA 3 plays its cards on the hottest ground in Europe, the segment B, where the BYD Atto 2, the Ford Puma Gen-E or the reborn Renault 4 fight to the death. It is worth remembering that the latter has a power of 204 horses and an autonomy of 430 kilometers thanks to its battery 61 kilowatt hours, making it a rival with plenty of electric muscle. The competition is tough, but OMODA wants to make a strong entrance into this segment, which, for them, is new.

At the price level, there are good reasons for Europe to welcome it with open arms: the OMODA 5 starts at 25.000 euros in its electric version, so everything points to this new OMODA 3 being positioned below that figureIf he keeps that promise, we could be looking at a futuristic low-cost cucumber, something you don't see every day.

Revolution?

The truth is that the OMODA 3 does not intend to go unnoticedFrom its post-apocalyptic anime aesthetic to its radical technological proposition, this SUV presents itself as something more than a simple vehicle: it is, according to the brand itself, “the embodiment of our imagination and a machine for creating dreams of the future.”

Sounds grandiloquent? Very much so. Do we like it? Yes, too.

Now it only remains to be seen whether all this visual and futuristic paraphernalia translates into real-life driving that lives up to the hype. Because dressing up like a combat mecha is one thing, but performing like one is quite another.

See you on April 26th. Long live the cars that dare.
