Mazda Vision Coupé Concept: a step further in the revival of the Mazda RX-7?
Mazda unveils at the Tokyo Motor Show a concept of a sporty coupé saloon that succeeds the prototype revealed in 2015, the RX-Vision.

Mazda has arrived at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show with several world premieres. Among them are the striking Mazda Kai Concept, a model that previews the future look that the next Mazda 3 could adopt, and the Mazda Vision Coupé Concept.
The second prototype serves as the successor to the Mazda RX-Vision, which was unveiled in 2015. We are talking about a four-door saloon with a fairly sporty style that could mean the return to the market of a true classic, the Mazda RX-7.

Lately, there has been a lot of talk that the Japanese brand could be thinking about a successor to the Mazda RX-7, especially after the presentation of the RX-Vision, a model with lines as sporty as those of the original RX-7 with its Wankel engine. In this regard, many claim that the Vision Coupé Concept is a further step towards the RX-7’s return to the market, but the reality is that, as of today, there is no certainty that this will happen.
The return of the rotary engine to Mazda does seem definite: the Japanese manufacturer has spent several months working on a new Wankel engine design that it will introduce in its future range of models.

Of the prototype presented by Mazda at the Tokyo Motor Show – Mazda Vision Coupé Concept – we do not know many details beyond what can be seen at first glance. Its design line clearly derives from the RX-Vision, resulting in a truly sharp and streamlined image.
At first sight, the car appears to be a full-fledged coupé, but if we look at the rear pillar we realise that the bodywork hides a second pair of doors, perfectly camouflaged. The interior of the car is that of a luxury saloon: it features a wood finish on the dashboard and door panels.
