Amazon is going to sell Hyundai cars, but don't worry, it's only a pilot test
Hyundai models will be able to be purchased through the large digital distribution platform, although for now it is only a test carried out in the US.

Selling vehicles has normally been limited to official dealerships or, at most, on the brands’ own websites. But everything advances and evolves, so some brands are trying new things. A major step has been eliminating traditional dealerships, which in some cases have become delivery centres and providers of after-sales services.
The brands themselves manage these centres, and this entails significant savings in logistics costs. But it has been Hyundai that wanted to take a major step and has just signed a distribution agreement with Amazon so that the distribution platform is the one in charge of selling its models.

A pilot test with Amazon
The agreement with Amazon is only a test to see whether the market is mature enough to begin trialling this type of sales model. The agreement stipulates that although the sales and even the financing are handled through Amazon, deliveries are made through the current dealerships, in this case, the one closest to the buyer’s home.
The test will be carried out in the United States, so it is the dealerships in that country that have become nervous. In fact, the companies listed on the stock exchange have seen their value fall by as much as 5%. European dealerships are also somewhat nervous, because if this pilot test works in the United States, it will not be long before it reaches other territories, such as Europe.
The industry is keeping a close eye on every move that will be made as a result of this agreement between Hyundai and Amazon. Depending on how it works out, other brands may be encouraged to try this type of agreement and move towards a sales model that could bring a major change to the way we buy a car.
