AMP Electric Vehicles emerges as a future rival to Tesla and Fisker
AMP announces that it will make a presentation at the NAIAS, apparently an SUV, fully electric, joining the group of electric vehicle manufacturers alongside Tesla and Fisker.

An unknown North American company, AMP Electric Vehicles, has announced that it has already reserved its spot at the NAIAS and will present an “iconic 100% American electric SUV” to the general public, challenging the primacy that both Tesla and Fisker (and Nissan itself) currently enjoy.
Of course, they have not said what vehicle it will be, and considering that AMP Electric Vehicles is only a company dedicated to conversions and that it recently presented its own version of an electric Mercedes ML350, there is not much to bet on when they say 100% American.
According to the company’s CEO, “they are going to give customers electric vehicles that are not compact or city cars, vehicles that are the ones people like to buy.” A good line for an American company aimed at that market. For those of us with thousands of kilometres of water in between, and for those who do not believe in the immediate viability of electric vehicles, honestly it leaves us rather indifferent.
Despite the above, and although AMP’s intentions to capture the nascent electric market are commendable, it seems the final goal is not the general public but corporations, companies and government offices, which will be the ones integrating electric vehicle fleets and where costs are not much of a problem.
