Aston Martin AM-RB 001: the revolutionary hypercar will debut in Toronto

The hypercar will have a power-to-weight ratio of 1/1 and will withstand forces of up to 4.5 g. It will be as fast as a Formula 1 single-seater on a circuit.

The highly anticipated hypercar AM-RB 001 from Aston Martin will make its world debut at the Toronto International Auto Show at the end of this month. This model was already unveiled last July at the company’s British headquarters, but now it will be on display so that the public can see the revolutionary project that Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing have carried out. Although there is no official confirmation yet, the AM-RB 001 could also appear at the Geneva Motor Show.

The Toronto Auto Show will be attended by the chief executive of Aston Martin, Andy Palmer, who recently said: “The AM-RB 001 is destined to be the most revolutionary hypercar of this decade, as well as a highly desirable investment for collectors and enthusiasts.”

Neither Aston Martin nor Red Bull have given too many details about the hypercar, but we do know that it will feature a naturally aspirated V12 engine that could be complemented by a small electric motor. Whether in hybrid or combustion form, the engine will be capable of exceeding 10,000 revolutions per minute, a figure within reach of very few hypercars today. Yet if one figure stands out above the rest, it is its power-to-weight ratio of 1/1, a number more typical of a single-seater than of a road-legal vehicle. The aerodynamics of the AM-RB 001 will also be one of its great strengths, thanks to advanced technology on the underbody of the vehicle. This vehicle will be capable of generating around 1,800 kg of downforce and will be able to withstand up to 4.5 g of cornering force. This area has been largely developed by former Formula 1 designer Adrian Newey. The underfloor of the AM-RB 001 is expected to be so extreme that it can take the circuits as fast as a current Formula 1 car.

Aston Martin announced a few months ago that the 150 units manufactured of the AMB-RB 001 have already been sold. However, 25 examples are still missing to complete production of this vehicle, although these units will arrive in a track-only version and will not be homologated for the road.
