Citroën SpaceTourer Rip Curl: the most "surfer" version of the people carrier

The Citroën SpaceTourer receives the new Rip Curl special edition, a variant that is already available from 24,300 euros.

The Citroën SpaceTourer debuts the new Rip Curl special edition. The brand with a surf tradition since 1969 (Rip Curl) has added a new name to the eight-seat people carrier. If you are into adventurous cars that invite a relaxed lifestyle, this Citroën SpaceTourer Rip Curl is for you. The people carrier comes in three lengths or sizes: XS (4.60 metres), M (4.95 metres) and XL (5.30 metres). All of them have 8 seats. The most “surfer” version of the SpaceTourer is available from 24,300 euros.

Exterior design: adventurous and practical

The Rip Curl special series of the Citroën SpaceTourer stands out for details such as the outer mirror housings (electrically folding) in Onyx Black, the same shade in which the side skirt trims are finished. The side windows and rear window are tinted to give passengers more privacy, while the tailgate features a opening rear window (that can be opened), offering greater convenience when loading the boot or seeking more ventilation inside. The two side doors also slide, making it easier to access the vehicle from outside.

The Citroën SpaceTourer Rip Curl features 17-inch light alloy wheels in grey and a specific “Rip Curl” decal on the front doors. The car is available with up to five body colours: Banquise White, Aluminium Grey, Platinium Grey, Onyx Black and Sable.

Interior: great modularity

Inside, there is a dashboard with exclusive silver decoration, which is also found on the front and rear side panels. The car has a digital instrument cluster with a colour touchscreen, chrome trims, a leather multifunction steering wheel and specific floor mats with coloured edging and the “Rip Curl” logo.

The modularity of this version is one of its strong points. The sliding rear seats are easy to move, fold, fit and remove according to your needs. The seats can adopt different configurations: 2/3 or 1/3. Meanwhile, the front passenger seatback also folds forward to make it easier to carry long objects (such as surfboards). In addition, the car has additional rear air conditioning, with a gentle ventilation system and no cold air drafts over the head.

Grip Control system: “all-terrain” versatility

The Citroën SpaceTourer Rip Curl features a Grip Control system that works as a limited-slip differential. This is an intelligent anti-slip system that optimises traction on low-grip surfaces. The system is activated by a rotary dial on the centre console that allows selection between five driving modes: Standard, Sand, Mud, Snow and ESP off. Depending on the selected mode, the system varies the torque delivery to the front wheels and manages the braking bite.

Blue HDi diesel engines

The Citroën SpaceTourer Rip Curl is available with the same diesel engines as the standard model:

• 150 hp BlueHDi: average consumption 5.3 l/100 km
• 180 hp BlueHDi: average consumption 5.7 l/100 km

Both engines are paired with the new 8-speed automatic gearbox.

The ConnectNAV system with a 7-inch touchscreen, the Head-Up Display (in colour), the blind spot assistant, the front and rear parking assist with 180º camera and the Citroën Connect Box (a package that includes a roadside emergency assistance service) make up the list of technological features of the SpaceTourer Rip Curl.
