Correos adds 100 Renault Kangoo Furgón E-Tech vans to its fleet to avoid polluting emissions

Services that have the city as their main setting are shifting towards electric mobility. It is a movement that is expected to be unstoppable, and every company operating in the city is replacing its vehicles with others that can meet the requirements of the restricted traffic zones set by the Low Emission Zones. Now, Correos has announced the addition of 100 new electric vehicles to its fleet.

The model chosen by Correos is the Renault Kangoo Furgón E-Tech, a van that joins the 400 electric vehicles the postal delivery company already has. In total, Correos already has 500 vehicles, although its goal is to reach the end of 2023 with 2,506 electric vehicles and 310 hybrid cars.

Correos is working to ensure that by 2030 its fleet will be made up of 50% electric vehicles. For the time being, it has 500 electric car chargers at the facilities where these electric vehicles have been assigned, to provide the most suitable service for them.

The new Correos electric vehicles will be assigned to the provinces of A Coruña, Albacete, Alicante, Almería, Badajoz, Barcelona, Burgos, Cádiz, Castellón, Ciudad Real, Cuenca, Girona, Granada, Gipuzkoa, Jaén, Lleida, Lugo, Murcia, Navarra, Ourense, Salamanca, Tarragona, Toledo and Valencia.

A versatile vehicle for city service

The Renault Kangoo Furgón E-Tech features a 45 kWh battery, which offers a range of 300 kilometres. It charges with a charger of up to 80 kW, which can restore up to 80% of its capacity in about 30 minutes. Each of these vehicles is expected to cover an average of 12,000 kilometres per month, avoiding a large amount of polluting emissions.

In terms of functionality, this model offers a loading capacity of 3.9 cubic metres, with up to 600 kg of payload and a towing capacity of up to 1,500 kg. It also has a 1.45-metre side opening, which is very practical for delivery service and access to the loading area.

In addition, drivers of these electric vehicles will receive specific training in driving electric vehicles, so that they can get the maximum performance from their technical characteristics.
