Fuel consumption falls by 7% in Spain

Reducing fuel consumption did not require limiting speed to 110 km/h, as was done a few months ago. It was enough to keep prices rising for fuel, which caused a drop in its consumption, as happened in July.
The fall in fuel consumption in July was the sharpest since March of this year, with 7% less compared with the same month last year. In short, consumption has fallen more than during the months when the 110 km/h speed limit was in force, a measure introduced to reduce road accidents and save fuel.
If the data are analysed, it can be seen that the trend in fuel consumption has been steadily downward since 2007, with no discernible effect, for better or worse, during the months when the 110 km/h limit applied.
And speaking of more numbers, curiously the DGT announces that the number of trips was almost the same as in July last year, which does not fit well with the drop in fuel consumption. And that is before August figures are even available.
