Goldcar will offer vehicle rental to young people aged between 18 and 20

The RACE and Goldcar reach an agreement that will allow 450,000 inexperienced drivers to rent cars after completing a road safety course.

The Royal Automobile Club of Spain and the rental company Goldcar have reached an agreement that will allow drivers aged between 18 and 21 to rent a vehicle from Goldcar, after completing a road safety course at the RACE – Red Bull Drivers’ Academy (located at the Jarama circuit). According to Spain’s National Statistics Institute, the measure would facilitate rentals for more than 450,000 young Spaniards.

Both the RACE and Goldcar consider training to be one of the keys to preventing the accident rate among young people. The Spanish Drivers’ Observatory, a RACE project, has carried out a survey of more than 1,300 young people on issues such as their road education. The study shows that one in two students at driving schools acknowledges that the courses only prepare you for the exam, not for driving. In addition, one in three drivers aged between 18 and 29 admit that, despite having passed the driving test, they are not sufficiently prepared to deal with the situations they encounter in traffic.

The road safety course, which young people will have to complete in order to rent a Goldcar vehicle, is based on improving skills in four very common risk situations: avoiding alcohol and drugs, preventing distractions, how to act in the event of a rollover, and safe driving.

The agreement between the RACE and Goldcar will also provide foreign drivers with a series of tips and rules that will help keep them safe when driving in Spain.
