Hennessey announces that its Venom F5 is ready to exceed 500 km/h
The Hennessey Venom F5 will feature in its architecture an ultra-resistant carbon fibre chassis
John Hennessey has two goals: to make other cars the fastest and to make the fastest car.
Regarding the first of his aims, we know of different preparations of dream machines modified and tuned to give even more than their original manufacturers designed them for.
Thus we find cars with completely overwhelmed performance such as the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, the Chevrolet Corvette or the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, all of them cars that exceeded 1,000 CV once Hennessey’s team took them into its facilities in Texas, United States.
As for building the fastest car, John Hennessey followed the guidance of other giants of the automotive industry and, since he could not find the sports car that met his needs, he rolled up his sleeves to build it by his own means.
The story of the Hennessey Venom F5 would not exist had there not been, first, a Hennessey Venom GT, the bastard son of Lotus and General Motors, which put its creator’s surname in the micro-universe of speed-record cars, on the list of the fastest to reach figures unattainable for most automobiles.
Be that as it may, John Hennessey and his team continue working every day so that manufacturers such as Bugatti, Koenigsegg or McLaren do not rest on their laurels and feel that there is no small rival, however limited their vehicle production may be.
The Venom F5 prepares its assault on the speed record
To take on a new challenge Hennessey will rely on cutting-edge technology; the use of the most innovative and refined technology will allow his creation to stand up to the challenge and aim once again to raise the stars-and-stripes flag by achieving its new goal.
It is nothing new that the Hennessey Venom F5 seeks to be the fastest production car in the world, and the aim is to beat its rivals by reaching and surpassing the top speed of 500 km/h that the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ set in its challenge against everyone, including its brother, the Bugatti Veyron, which had already achieved the top-speed record.
For this reason the Texan manufacturer has announced and unveiled the basis for its vehicle to achieve such a feat: the V8 engine of more than 1,800 CV that will power the car will be installed in a carbon-fibre chassis capable of withstanding the energy generated in the effort of surpassing 500 km/h.
Weighing just 86 kg, the torsional rigidity that this chassis withstands is extraordinary: 52,000 Nm/degree.
Hennessey states that the first three Venom F5s are already in the assembly phase and will undergo testing during the second quarter of this 2020.
In total, 24 Hennessey Venom F5s will be built, half of them destined exclusively for the United States and the other dozen to be distributed across the globe. The price of these cars will be 1.8 million dollars.
