Hyundai Kona EV: an electric SUV that stands out for its range and its price

The new Hyundai Kona electric is now on sale, with two versions depending on the battery and range, and with brand discounts that bring the starting price down to 33,300 euros.

For those interested in buying an electric car, a new option has arrived on the market. The new Hyundai Kona electric is now on sale, with attractive discounts offered by the brand itself, so you won’t have to wait for the purchase grants for electric cars that the Government will offer under the Plan VEA, which are still pending.

In Hyundai are looking to give a boost to their ECO range, which is why the Korean manufacturer is offering incredible discounts for everyone interested in switching to the ECO sector.
The models that are in luck are: The new Hyundai Ioniq Hev, the Ioniq EV, Ioniq Phev, the Hyundai Kona EV and the Hyundai Nexo. All of these models have discounts on all their versions, from the cheapest to the most expensive.

In this Hyundai campaign to promote its ECO range, we find discounts on its models ranging from 4,200€ (Hyundai Ioniq Hev) and 5,200€ (the rest of its ECO range, including the Hyundai Nexo).

Without a doubt, this is a great opportunity to move into the world of electric cars in a more affordable way and with quality vehicles. Let’s remember that the version with the 39.2 kWh battery offers a motor with 136 CV and 300 km of range, while the variant with the most powerful battery reaches 204 CV and 470 km of range, according to official data.

However, we want to offer you other options by looking at the price range of the Hyundai Kona. The truth is that electric technology is still expensive, even with discounts. For example, within the Hyundai Kona range itself, for 32,400 € you can opt for the top-of-the-range version of this vehicle in its 1.6 TGDI petrol version with 176 CV. And you can have a 1.0 Kona with 120 CV in Tecno trim, which for us is the most balanced version of the range at present, and which comes to less than 20,000 euros with discounts.

Remember that, although the use of electric cars is being promoted more every day, there are still many drawbacks to this technology that can be more than enough reasons not to take the plunge. Situations such as having to wait long periods of time to charge the car, not finding stations with enabled charging points, or the limited range compared with combustion engines are, to this day, still decisive factors that make the electric car suitable only for very specific uses.

Our final recommendation regarding the Kona, in terms of value for money, is the aforementioned 1.0 TGDI petrol model with 120 CV, which conveys the feel of a higher range and has practically nothing to envy from its bigger siblings, with an engine that responds surprisingly well.

If we compare it with the most interesting electric cars currently on the market, it should be noted that the Nissan Leaf starts at 32,800 €, and we also have the Renault Zoe, which in its new R110 version with 110 CV is priced at 30,220 euros with the battery owned, and can be purchased for less than 23,000 euros with the battery rental option.
