Is this the future Nissan GT-R?

It’s no secret that Nissan is working on a new GT-R. Its codename is R36, and it will be the next major representative of the Japanese manufacturer when it comes to performance. This concept shows us how the line of these models could look in the future.

The GT-R performance line Nissan is one of the most prestigious and beloved by motoring enthusiasts. For many, being able to own one of the legendary R33 or R34, to name just two, is a true dream.

The current and successful generation of the Nissan R35 will soon be replaced by the R36. According to the latest news, the new generation of GT-R will not see the light of day until early 2020 at the earliest. In the meantime, we have all the time in the world to imagine what it will look like.

Vladimir Gololobov has offered us his vision of what the future generation of the GT-R could look like. These renders reflect his vision of the R36, and honestly, we believe he has made an excellent effort.

To begin with, the rendered model retains the resemblance and certain lines of the current generation. This is good, since a radical change is a risky bet, and as we saw with the R35, the leap between its current generation and its predecessor in terms of looks was, for many, at the very least shocking, with the R35 being labelled a “brick”, “a monstrosity” or a tank.

Vladimir’s renders, however, convey a much more refined design, preserving the most interesting features of the current generation. Furthermore, futurism is present in its bodywork, something models should start adopting as soon as possible given the constant technological advances we live with today.

At the front, the new GT-R takes centre stage thanks to its new vertical headlights, aggressive and well judged. The roofline of the model is lower than normal, which blends perfectly with the model’s overall angles, giving it a clear sense of dynamism and agility.

It also features several openings at the front to enhance aerodynamic downforce.

The model’s angular design continues along its sides. Through fine lines on its doors and sills, the spotlight is ultimately stolen by its incredible chrome wheels, which are especially eye-catching.

Finally, the rear features a beautiful spoiler, which will aid the overall aerodynamics of the model and gives it an even greater sense of performance.

The R36 will most likely not end up with a design even remotely similar to this one, but it is always great to see the initiative of talented people like Vladimir. By the way, we wouldn’t mind at all if the R36 ended up with this design; it really is spot on.
