Iveco S-Way Fit Cab: a gym on wheels
The Iveco S-Way Fit Cab is a prototype that offers all the possibilities of a gym inside the truck cab itself, so there are no excuses left for not staying in shape.
The Iveco S-Way debuted a new cab a few months ago, designed specifically to give the driver better ergonomics and comfort. This is essential for a truck driver, since they spend more hours in the truck than in their own home.
The first area Iveco focused its efforts on was improving the driving position. To achieve this, the base of the adjustable seat has been reduced so that a thicker cushion can be installed, greatly increasing comfort and minimising fatigue at the wheel.
In addition, the lower part of the steering wheel is now flat, so regardless of the driver’s build, they can get in and out without any problems. The centre console has been oriented towards the driver, so the various elements can be operated without taking their eyes off the road.
Furthermore, the new Iveco S-Way has integrated a new 7-inch touchscreen to control the infotainment system, compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also features a button to start the engine, although the key must first be inserted into a slot located just below it.
A cab to feel at home in
The liveability of the Iveco S-Way cab has increased considerably, with a headroom of 2.15 metres at the centre of the cab. This is essential so the driver can stand inside without having to stoop. In addition, the longitudinal space has been widened by 35 centimetres.
The entire cabin is filled with compartments where all your belongings can be stored, and it offers a bunk on which two people can sleep in complete comfort. Furthermore, the Bed Module puts within the driver’s reach all the controls needed so there is no need to get out of bed to change the cabin temperature, the interior lighting or the door locks.
Iveco is already a real expert in delivering innovative solutions, and one example is that Iveco’s first autonomous bus prototype will arrive in 2021. Moreover, the star model is also very innovative, since the Iveco S-Way can run on gas to tackle long journeys.
Iveco S-Way Fit Cab: a gym on wheels
It is a fact that truck drivers spend too much time sitting down, which is why obesity rates in this sector are higher than normal. One of the main reasons is that spending so much time away from home makes it hard to establish a routine for doing exercise.
Iveco has thought about this and come up with a solution: if truck drivers don’t have time to go to the gym, why not set up a gym in the truck itself? It seems to be the definitive solution to avoid a sedentary lifestyle, and there is no longer any excuse not to exercise.
The Iveco S-Way Fit Cab incorporates elements that are surprising to see in a truck cab, as this new prototype includes features such as a pull-up bar, dumbbells, bands and even elastic pulleys for working out the whole body.
This is one of the elements still in the development phase, so Iveco has taken this concept to every European Truck Championship event so that the most knowledgeable experts in the field can give their opinion.
We were able to see it last weekend at the Jarama Circuit, the final round of the championship, and we were impressed by its practicality and versatility, as all this equipment barely takes up any space in the Iveco S-Way cab.
So, if you are a truck driver and worried about not exercising, the Iveco S-Way Fit Cab is the ultimate truck, because as the saying goes: “If the mountain won’t come to Mohammed, Mohammed will go to the mountain.” This gym on wheels will allow you to stay in peak shape without wasting your valuable time. And if you are not yet a driver, don’t miss our tips for overtaking a truck safely.
