JAC IV Concept: the Toyota iQ Chinese, will be presented at the Beijing Motor Show

Despite having a gigantic industry at its disposal, one that is certainly capable of producing models with its own inspiration, the Chinese are famous for copying the designs of others, sometimes in very crude ways. Here we have yet another case of copying, although it must be said that the Chinese are not entirely to blame, since the JAC IV Concept was not designed directly by Chinese designers.
In the coming days, when the Beijing Motor Show opens, JAC’s Chinese team will present this model, a faithful copy of the Toyota iQ, but with some differences: it was conceived in a design studio in Milan, Italy, commissioned by JAC, and it will possibly have hybrid powertrain.
Designing in Europe, the Chinese ensure a certain learning curve regarding the design and construction methods of cars with the quality that is customary in Europe, to be applied to their own market.
As for the JAC IV Concept: its overall design is similar to the iQ’s, but judging by the renderings, I must say that I like it more than the iQ itself, especially the front and the shape of the lights.
We will see whether the Chinese stand any chance against the iQ itself (or the Smart) or whether the IV Concept will remain merely good intentions. We will know from Friday, when the Beijing Motor Show begins.
