Ken Block shows off his new buggy for the snow

Ken Block knows how to have fun, so he has bought a new modified buggy to leave his skis at home and enjoy the snow.

Ken Block is one of the great entertainers for all of us who love cars. His driving skill is evident in the many Gymkhanas he has published, in which drifts grazing guardrails, jumps and other stunts are more than guaranteed.

Block has a special talent for this kind of work, which is why, despite the spectacular feats he performs in his specialty, he has never stood out in the World Rally Championship. Therefore, the conclusion is clear: he was born to put on a show.

We all assume that Ken Block cannot drive without doing donuts at roundabouts and with the steering wheel straight. We have already seen some of his spectacular cars, such as a Ford Mustang, a Ford Focus, or the Ford Raptor that he took into the desert.

Don’t think these cars are like any of the ones you pass every day on the street; in fact, they only resemble them in the bodywork. Inside, they are genuine competition beasts specially designed to drift and sound as if the end of the world were coming every time you turn the ignition key.

However, Ken Block has come up with something different for his latest adventure. The place chosen for it is a ski resort at Lake Tahoe, on the border between the states of California and Nevada.

The vehicle chosen is not a conventional car but a buggy. Specifically, it is a Can-Am X3 XRS Turbo, a real grown-up toy with a turbocharged Rotax engine that produces no less than 172 horsepower, a very respectable output considering the whole package weighs 720 kilos.

Don’t think that buying a vehicle of this kind is cheaper than a conventional car. In fact, this Can-Am has a starting price of around 25,000 euros, that is, a price similar to what you would have to pay for a Mazda MX-5.

However, Ken Block cannot settle for an unmodified car. For this reason, he has replaced the off-road tyres this buggy comes with from the factory with tank-style rubber tracks with rollers, like those used by combat tanks. We don’t know how much this modification costs, but it means the buggy can no longer be driven on a conventional road, so Ken Block had to use an enormous Ford F-450 to transport his toy to its new playground.

With this contraption ready, Ken Block was able to unleash his abilities on a snow track full of jumps designed for skiers. It seems absurd to take a car down a slope where it would already be hard to keep control on a snowboard. However, after watching the video, we are clear that few driving experiences can be more fun than this one.

Ken Block will undoubtedly have experiences to tell his grandchildren, but since you are not going to be one of them, we will tell you about it and show you the video. Put on your helmets and enjoy!
