Mahindra Unveils the XUV5OO

Mahindra has revealed some details of its XUV5OO (which is not “500” but 5, followed by a double O), a 2012 model, the brand’s new offering in the budget SUV segment, designed in-house and initially to be sold in emerging markets, although there are plans to bring it to Europe.
The XUV5OO is powered by a 2.2-litre direct-injection, turbocharged engine producing 140 hp and 330 Nm of peak torque. The brand’s announced fuel consumption is 6.67 L/100 km for the model with a manual gearbox. The automatic version will follow later.
In terms of equipment, the XUV5OO will feature ABS, six airbags, ESP, tyre pressure sensors, LED front lights, a digital instrument cluster, a mini-bar located in the rear seats, and two-wheel or four-wheel drive as an option.
The final price for Europe has not yet been revealed, but Mahindra has already given the price it will have in India, its first market: between 16,000 and 19,000 euros, at current exchange rates.
