Mauro Calo breaks the world drift record

That a professional driver tries to break a drift record is not really that special. In fact, if you have the necessary skill and a good vehicle, powerful and rear-wheel drive, you might well want to try it yourself.
What is curious about all this is not that the driver is Mauro Calo, a well-known drift driver whose skill is undeniable, but that instead of using a Japanese vehicle to achieve this milestone, he opted for a Mercedes C63 AMG, a car with which he finally managed to cover 2,308 metres “sideways”.
To be honest, when we think of drifting, very few people picture their drifting runs in a Mercedes Class C, maybe a BMW… but not in a Class C, sorry to Mercedes. Even so, it has to be acknowledged that we are talking about a beast equipped with a 6.2-litre V8 capable of delivering a whopping 457 hp, more than enough to delight any virtuoso behind the wheel.

According to Mauro Calo’s own statements after setting the record: “The car is very balanced. I was relaxed and only had to make small corrections with the steering and the throttle. From the seventh lap, the tyres started to wear out, but I kept going until I knew I had broken the record. I am absolutely delighted”
