Mazda takes a step forward in technology by integrating Android Auto and Apple CarPlay into most of its future models.

Mazda will offer Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in most of its new models, integrated alongside its MZD Connect entertainment system. This way, you will not only be able to enjoy the multimedia options or the manufacturer’s own software, but you will also skip the installation step of these popular systems for connecting your phone to the car.

With this move, Mazda is betting on technology working in synergy with your phone, which is becoming more necessary every day, since smartphones have become an indispensable part of our lives. Now you will be able to access your phone, your messages, your audio apps such as Spotify, or the navigation features of Google Maps through your phone, more easily and quickly than ever.

It is important to note that all Mazda customers who currently have a vehicle with MZD technology integrated into it will be able to receive a free software update to benefit from the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto services.

Apple CarPlay communicates with MZD Connect via a USB port and can be controlled through a touchscreen or by using the HMI Commander rotary controller available on many models of the brand. On the other hand, Android Auto can only be controlled through the HMI Commander controller.

Integrating this technology into the vehicle brings numerous multimedia advantages, such as being able to use Apple’s artificial intelligence, Siri, or Google’s assistant in the case of Android. Other useful features include, for example, language assistance, navigation technology through Google Maps, and constant GPS updates via the satellites of the famous search engine, among others.

The update will include hardware and software, and will be available as standard or optionally and free of charge, depending on the model and version chosen, both in brand-new Mazda models and in some existing ones thanks to MZD Connect, starting August 6, 2018.
