Mclaren P1 GT: First images of this monstrous hypercar

The Mclaren P1 GT appears in leaked images from Lanzante, where this more sporty version of the Mclaren P1 can be examined in detail.

It is hard to believe that the Mclaren P1 went on sale in 2015, three years ago now, but the enthusiasm and success this model has achieved among those who can afford it has driven the English manufacturer to create an even sportier version of this astonishing hypercar.

The Mclaren P1 GT will make its official debut at the Goodwood Festival this summer. We are looking at a beautiful hypercar, and the choice of colour, as the photos show, could not be more fitting. The car has been fitted with additional aerodynamic parts that improve ventilation, as well as a huge carbon fibre rear spoiler that suits it particularly well and makes it look even more aggressive. Other changes include things like 4 exhaust pipes (imagine how this monster will sound), and a modified rear diffuser.

In the cabin, we find unique pieces of carbon fibre, such as the steering wheel, which is also partly made of green leather for grip. Other changes in this area are harder to see, but we can make out details such as green handles for the doors, leather seats in matching colours and a special plaque on the driver’s side.

What lies under the bonnet?

The Mclaren P1 GT appears to be based on the P1 GTR, which had a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 789 CV that, combined with its electric motor producing 197 CV, makes a total of 986 CV, a true monster on the road.

It is still not known for certain whether Lanzante has modified the engine, but the P1 GT will certainly be lighter and more powerful than the original model.

Although many questions remain unanswered, it seems that the Mclaren P1 GTP1 GT uses direct information from the Mclaren F1 GT.

Either way, we eagerly await more information about this hypercar which, although prohibitive for most mortals, will always be a joy to see running free on a winding road, doing what it does best.
