Mercedes-Benz E-Class 2013, a modern facelift
The first images of the facelift that the Mercedes-Benz E-Class will receive next year have been revealed. This German luxury saloon becomes more modern in an attempt to expand its market.

After several years on the market and facing an entirely new competition, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class is updated in certain aspects, offering much more modern lines and even, we could say, a more youthful look compared with the generation currently on sale. The images correspond to both the saloon and the estate.
For the first time in the brand, a facelift is more than simple changes to the shape of the headlights. On this occasion, Mercedes-Benz’s designers have created a new grille with a thick chrome surround, along with a sharper and completely redesigned front bumper. Also, and after many years, the four headlights that have characterised this model disappear, leaving just two large front light units with LED lighting.

The exterior styling changes continue with a refreshed side profile, new alloy wheel designs and a rear end that combines modernity through its lights and bumper design. It may be my impression, but this last section of the vehicle reminds me greatly of its sibling, the Mercedes-Benz GL.
We have also been provided with some images of the cabin interior. It adopts new trim and a touch of “Something is changing at Mercedes”. It now looks much more youthful, as if we were talking about a large C-Class. The instrument cluster uses the same layout as the CLS, that is, three large gauges: on the far right is the rev counter, followed in the centre by the speedometer, ending on the right with the iconic analogue clock.
It is still unknown whether it will have updated engines. We remain awaiting new information from the brand.
