Mercedes Benz Nostalgia: a Sedan from the future
The car industry has always been forced to change faster than most. Over the years, model design has to be modernized, and this concept of Mercedes proves that claim.
The car of the future seems to be a fusion of electric and hybrid technologies, or at least that is true of its engine. Design, however, is a different story, because owing to changes in people’s tastes or fashions, designs and trends are, to say the least, highly volatile.

The bet that Mercedes is making with this concept called “Nostalgia” could go in the right direction. Its lines, full of class and futurism, inspire a car that keeps the builder’s elegance but shouts innovation from every side, and, by the way, in an incredibly beautiful way.
The idea behind its design comes from designer Sehoon Hans Kim, who drew inspiration from recent shared concepts of Mercedes Benz. According to Kim, the idea lies in preserving the brand’s versatility and elegance while adding clear futuristic roots, seeking a facelift and clear innovation in terms of design within the sector.

The first thing that stands out when seeing the “Nostalgia” concept is that it does not recall any old or current model from the German manufacturer. For example, at its front, the shape of its headlights merged with a large, aggressive bonnet is more reminiscent of a Ford Mustang or an American car than the refinement we are used to from German cars.
On the other hand, its rear is a different story: here its well-judged design draws attention. A beautiful brake light line runs around the entire lower part, leaving an aerodynamic gap in the boot area that pairs incredibly well with what appears to be a “shark fin spoiler”, discreet and white, which discreetly divides the rear window outlet.

The side profile is also especially curious, particularly regarding the windows, which feature motifs in the same silver as the bodywork, but in the form of dots. We cannot imagine what their purpose is, but we believe they suit it wonderfully.

Although, as always happens with concepts, this design will most likely end up in the archive of memories, personally I would love to see it come true, since I believe it is the right direction for car design of the future, standing out very clearly from current generations.
