Mercedes-Benz wants an even more exclusive car than a Bentley Continental

Mercedes-Benz (or Maybach) doesn’t want to be left behind by other models that have carved out some edge in the most luxurious segment, and has begun preparing a vehicle capable of snapping at the heels of a Bentley Continental.
The project would involve a model that would sit above the CLS, with AMG engines and all the ingredients needed to attract customers from Bentley, something difficult even for the century-old Mercedes-Benz.
Perhaps if they finally decided to find a solution to the Maybach problem, we could see a model of those characteristics under the Maybach badge; or we might directly have a full Mercedes-Benz carrying the brand’s flag. In any case, Bentley has already reached a more than respectable level among the cars of the very rich and very powerful, even more so than Mercedes-Benz.
And the perfect model on which to base a comparable one -or rather, the only one we could compare with what Mercedes wants to do– could be the Xenatec 62S Coupe, a concept built on the Maybach 62.
