Mercedes-Benz will build a hatchback version of the new A-Class
The Mercedes-Benz A-Class will continue in a three-door model that the brand is planning on the basis of the Concept A, shown last year in Shanghai.

Following in the wake of the new A-Class, of which we have already seen a teaser video, Daimler AG also has its three-door variant in its plans, designed to compete in the segment of the new Audi A3 or the Volkswagen Scirocco.
According to certain Mercedes-Benz sources to which Autocar has had access, the new model will become a reality, although it will not arrive in the short term, as they are going to wait until the new generation of the A-Class is ready; so the “three-door” will not see the light of day until around 2015.
The clearest example of what Mercedes-Benz wants to do is the Concept A, shown last year in Shanghai. On that occasion the concept was presented on a front-wheel-drive platform, with a new 2-litre turbo engine producing 210 CV, a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and an electronic anti-collision system.
As can be seen, the new generation of this A-Class has a fairly innovative design, although when it comes to production we imagine it will have a less daring design and be less committed to the “sculptural interpretation” that the brand mentioned for the A Concept when it was presented.
