Mercedes will unveil the GLA at the Shanghai Motor Show

It won’t be long before we see the prototype of the Mercedes GLA, the compact SUV the German brand has in its plans and which uses the platform of the A-Class, B-Class and the recently unveiled CLA. Although it has been said that the final model could be launched at the end of this year, the model that Mercedes-Benz will bring to the Shanghai Motor Show in a few days will not yet be the production version.
As far as is known so far, the Mercedes GLA will be offered in front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive variants, along with a wide range of diesel and petrol engines; in particular, those powertrains used in its sister models sharing the same platform, the A-Class and B-Class. An AMG variant could be possible, although here we would be venturing into speculation that Daimler itself has not even confirmed for the GLA.
Daimler has so far maintained that the production version is set to be ready in September, most likely coinciding with the Frankfurt Motor Show.
On the other hand, Mercedes is also reportedly preparing another candidate in the same vein as the A-Class, B-Class, CLA and GLA. We are referring to a station wagon version of the CLA (perhaps leaning towards a shooting brake style). At the same time, the Germans would also have a convertible version of the A-Class in the works.
