More details on the Splinter, the first wooden sports car

Some time ago we already had the first news about this amazing sports car made from the most exotic and rare of materials: wood, funny as it may seem.
Now, the company Joe Harmon Design, based in the United States, has revealed more details about it. It can reach the astonishing speed of 240 km/h, and its structure is made entirely of maple wood.
With space for two people, it has a 4.0L V8 diesel engine and a six-speed gearbox. It weighs 1,134 kg, 240 kg less than the lightest supercar of the renowned brand Porsche.
The price of this wooden sports car has not been announced, but it is expected to be running on the streets by the end of next year. The question is, will wood have the same strength as modern sports cars have in their structure?
