Motive Kestrel, a new electric car from Canada

More and more manufacturers are eager to include an electric model in their line-up. A case in point is this small car with which the Canadian company Motive hopes to win us over and, in my opinion, the move hasn’t turned out too badly at all.
The car you can see in the header image is the Motive Kestrel EV, a small car designed to be used exclusively in the city. Among other things, it offers a range of 160 km, more than enough to drive to work or even to buy bread

Among the information provided by the Canadian manufacturer, it’s worth highlighting that this model has been fitted with a motor, though no other technical details are known, capable of taking it up to 84 km/h, while its total weight will be around 850 kg, partly due to the weight of its bulky lithium batteries.
Unfortunately, as you can see, for now we are looking at a project that is basically just what you see: a simple computer rendering, although Motive has assured us that they plan to build a first prototype during 2011 so that the first units can go on sale at the end of 2012.

As you know, mainly because almost all electric models have suffered from it, this kind of project usually has a problem, and not a minor one: funding. According to Motive, this problem is already solved thanks to the collaboration of several interested Canadian companies. We’ll see how all of this turns out.
