Nearly 600,000 Euros for a licence plate with the letters F1

Mr Afzal Kahn, an English Formula 1 fanatic, has paid nearly 600,000 Euros to have a licence plate reading “F1” on his Mercedes SLR McLaren.
The man makes his living tuning luxury cars, and business does not seem to be going too badly.
The bidding reached such an outrageous figure because this gentleman ended up with two rivals. In the end he had to shell out 375,000 pounds sterling, plus another 65,625 pounds in taxes.
The plate in this incredible story was issued no less than 104 years ago. Until now, it served on the official car of the top official of the county of Essex, a Volvo S80.

Parece un insulto pagar algo así por una matricula tal y como está el mundo, pero imagino que más que un capricho será una inversión, dentro de unos años se lo venderá a otro por 1.000.000!
