New Mitsubishi Montero Sport for the Moscow Show

It is clear that the automotive market in Russia has been gaining importance recently, and as proof, we already knew that Mazda intended to bring an exclusive prototype to the Moscow event, and now Mitsubishi joins the Russian premieres with the new generation of the Montero Sport.

Based on the L200 pick-up (or Triton in other countries), it is a model independent of the Montero that will be sold in Latin America, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Oceania and, obviously, Russia. In the first it will be sold under the name Nativa, as Challenger in Australia, Montero Sport in South America, and for the rest Pajero Sport. It will not reach Central and Western Europe, Japan or North America.

Its sporty and robust exterior design is complemented by a more stylized interior endowed with generous spaciousness that allows a very good cargo area. It can be configured with 5 or 7 seats, and it also incorporates water-repellent materials for the seats and the boot, useful for leisure use.

Its engine range consists of a 2.5 and a 3.2 common-rail direct-injection diesel, and a 3.5 V6 petrol. Russia will only receive the 3.2-litre diesel option with 5 seats. It also incorporates the Super Select 4WD four-wheel-drive system of the regular Montero, so it will have good off-road capabilities.

Without a doubt, Mitsubishi did not choose the location by chance, and it hopes that when it unveils the new Montero Sport at the Russian capital’s show, it will receive as warm a welcome as the sales figures for the region suggest.
