Nissan leads the gradual growth of the electric vehicle
Nissan leads the market with 260,000 electric sales globally and 75,000 across Europe. Figures that are revolutionising the global car market.
Electric vehicles are growing in prominence in the market. The record figures registered in Germany, the United States and Denmark highlight the gradual growth of electric mobility. In this context, Nissan stands out from the rest with numbers that rival very few electric carmakers. The Japanese brand has reached 75,000 electric vehicle sales across Europe and 260,000 worldwide. Its flagship electric vehicle, the Nissan Leaf, has seen a 10% rise in sales compared with last year.
“The electric vehicle market in Europe is growing at an extraordinary pace because drivers across the continent recognise the many advantages electric mobility offers. By leading sales, we are encouraging many drivers to switch to an electric vehicle and, ultimately, to help build a zero-emissions future,” said Gareth Dunsmore, Director of Electric Vehicles at Nissan Europe.
A good indication of the growth electric mobility is experiencing worldwide is the market share reached in the United States, Germany and Norway. Both the American and German markets exceed 1% market share for the first time in history. In Spain, that proportion stands at 0.288%. Germany registered a total of 289,000 electric cars last month, an increase of 77% compared with last year. Norway, however, keeps the top European position for electric sales, with 122,000 registrations in September.
In Spain, Nissan also increased its sales by 15.3% in October and consolidates its absolute leadership with an electric vehicle market share of 37%. This market has been stagnant for several months in our country, with the share below 0.3%. Despite this, the annual upward trend is clear, and electric car sales in September of this year reached 79,591 units.
