Q-Yachts sells its first electric yacht. The Tesla of the seas?
Q-Yachts sells its first fully electric yacht. They aim to be an example of how to care for the seas and the environment by adapting these technologies to the oceans.
Electric technology is gradually becoming firmly established in the motoring world. The advantages of this technology are undeniable, especially with regard to environmental protection. Q-Yachts is one more example of a company betting on the advance of electric power in vehicles, this time by focusing on pleasure craft.
The company itself has set itself the goal of earning the nickname “the Tesla of the seas”, and it is no wonder, since, as we can see in the images, they bear a strong resemblance to the company of the magnate Elon Musk, especially when it comes to design and attention to detail.

Q-Yachts presents us with its first real model, recently sold, the Q30 fully electric yacht. The Finnish company works in parallel with another called Oceanvolt, a manufacturer of electric propulsion systems for boats.
Without a doubt, Q-Yachts’ initiative and its new projects arrive at an excellent moment, at a time of boom in electric technology. The initiative to care for the oceans is undoubtedly one that all the public will support, especially if we consider that this environment is much more affected than the land, which seems ironic, since the latter is our natural habitat.

Janne Kjellman, founder of Q-Yachts has been working in complete secrecy for the last few years. Finally, the project was unveiled a few months ago and they are now fulfilling their first order.
Kjellman recently stated: “We are sure that this is the beginning of something big. We are very pleased to have two young friends who appreciate the values on which Q-Yachts is based. We are also very grateful to our first customers and to everyone who likes our designs.“
The first buyers and owners of a Q-Yacht are Jare Tiihonen and Jens Kyllönen (a professional poker player). Both have released a public video to celebrate the acquisition of one of the first fully electric boats for civilian use in history:

Below we offer you the official list of the complete specifications of the Q-30 yacht, although first we will briefly review the most important ones.
The Q-30 is equipped with a fully electric Oceanvolt AXC20 motor with 20 kW of electric power, which enables an average speed of 9 knots and a maximum speed of 15 knots.
The boat measures 9.3 metres long and is offered with 2 different battery packs, one with 30 kWh and 60 kWh respectively. With the 30 kWh pack, a total range of around 42 nautical miles can be expected without recharging, and 22 nautical miles at maximum speed. The 60 kWh pack offers double the above.

As expected, these are not absolutely impressive numbers, but let us bear in mind that it is a very primitive technology with an enormous and currently unimaginable potential for improvement. After all, if we consider the world of engines run on fossil fuels, their designs are still being innovated more than 100 years after their creation…
At Top10Motor we are delighted with this new initiative, especially because it will promote the care of our oceans and contribute to the gradual healing of the environment. In the end, everything adds up.
