In the European market, Renault achieves good results in the industrial sector. The French brand’s models are becoming benchmarks in this segment, but now the French manufacturer wants to go further and reach markets that have traditionally eluded it. One of the solutions to achieve this is the new show truck pick-up it has prepared to display at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.

With this pick-up configuration, Renault will be able to compete in a market where it has little presence. According to the company, in the international market, one in three commercial vehicles sold is a pick-up, although in Europe it is not one of the models preferred by buyers. The characteristics of the Alaskan Concept are designed to appeal to users in countries where this type of vehicle is very popular.

To begin with, it is a robust vehicle with a rugged look that suits the kind of work these trucks are typically used for, built to handle the hard work of the day. The front of the Alaskan Concept stands out with a powerful grille and a sizeable company emblem that easily identifies the manufacturer. The image conveys strength, and the 21-inch wheels, which elevate the status of the pick-up, contribute to this.

The headlights and the shape of the bonnet do not stray from the robust image sought, yet they keep all of the brand’s typical DNA, so despite its size and shape, it perfectly recalls one of the brand’s comfortable cars. Its load capacity is set at 1,000 kilos, making it fully capable of tackling any challenge thrown at it during the working day.

The engine powering this concept is a unit already used in other vehicles in the company’s range, such as the Master. It is a four-cylinder Twin-Turbo with enough power to carry loads over difficult terrain efficiently. It will be one of the vehicles on show at the German event and will either go into production once some details are refined or serve as a test bed for other similar models arriving in the near future.
