Renault asked Mercedes to check the quality of the new Talisman

Yesterday the new Renault Talisman was unveiled in France, a mid-size saloon belonging to the competitive compact saloon segment where the Germans dominate sales. Renault‘s new bet replaces the long-serving Laguna and the larger Latitude, betting on quality as the defining trait that will make the French saloon a success in the market.
To focus on quality and achieve a good result, the managers of Renault asked Mercedes to check the quality of the new Talisman and, despite there being no parts from Daimler in the car, the German manufacturer agreed and sent a team of experts to the Douai plant in France, belonging to Renault, to review the quality control and carry out an analysis of perceived quality. As we have already noted, the Talisman has no parts from Mercedes; the request was simply to analyse the quality control system on the new model’s production line.

This information was revealed after the presentation of the mid-size saloon, for which the company’s president Renault, Carlos Ghosn, described it as a ‘refined sedan’, while design chief Laurens van den Acker added that it had been ‘designed by quality’, paying special attention to dimensions and finishes.
Once revealed, the Renault Talisman is heading to the Frankfurt Motor Show, taking place next September, where it will be displayed alongside the estate version, which could see the light of day shortly. Both versions are scheduled to go on sale at the end of 2015 and will compete with major models in the segment, such as the Volkswagen Passat, the Skoda Superb and the Ford Mondeo.
