Renault TwinRun, the R5 successor shows up doing drifts

Renault

Over the past few days, while the motoring world focused on the presentations at the New York Auto Show, Renault brought the Twingo successor and the old R5 out onto the streets of Madrid. The TwinRun, the model’s future name, was filmed having fun and doing drifts around the capital.

From what we’ve been able to see in the first images and videos of the prototype, the Renault TwinRun stands out not only for its styling, covered in spoilers and air intakes, but also for an engine located in a mid-rear position capable of sending all its power to the rear axle.

The Renault TwinRun will also come with a roll cage, bucket-style seats, a dual exhaust outlet in a central position, a diffuser and, finally, widened wheel arches. The rear wheels are larger than the front ones.

For now there is no official confirmation from Renault that the TwinRun is coming to our streets. They may simply have been filming an advertisement, although it’s also possible the brand with the diamond logo has the next-generation Twingo ready for the 2013 Paris Motor Show.
