Renault will hire 1,300 new workers, manufacture 280,000 units per year and 1.3 million engines by 2016
Renault has presented today its industrial plan covering the 2014-2016 period, in which it has committed to hiring 1,300 new workers and to producing 40% more than it does now.

The French company has presented its 2014-2016 Industrial Plan allocated to Spain, in the framework of Mariano Rajoy’s visit to the brand’s facilities at its Palencia plant. As part of the plan unveiled today, the French brand has committed to hiring 1,300 new workers, manufacturing 280,000 units, plus 1.3 million engines.
The Palencia factory will have two new platforms, which in total will mean a production volume of up to 280,000 units per year across four different models, a 40 percent increase in production compared to today.
As far as the Engines and Gearboxes division is concerned, average production will be increased, with volumes between 1.3 and 1.4 million units per year.
Of course, all of this will come at a cost. And the cost will be that the unions have had to accept stricter working conditions so that, in return, Spain will host the production of several of the brand’s models. All in order not to lose a large part of the 10,000 jobs that Renault currently has in our country.
