The course of 2017 has been a real success for some companies, especially in the automotive sector. Within this world, vehicle sales have increased considerably, doubling or even tripling those of previous years. If we must highlight one of the brands with the highest sales figures, it is, without a doubt, Citroën. The brand of the double chevrons presents substantial figures for its 2017 sales, which it hopes to surpass throughout 2018.

The French brand has enjoyed a large volume of sales thanks to the wide range of models it offers and, at the same time, to the value for money it provides. During 2017, the brand has managed to position a large number of its vehicles on the market, both commercial vehicles and city cars. Its success is based mainly on the creation of compact cars and the SUVs derived from them.

Specifically, 95,500 units were registered in Spain during the last year, which represents growth of 12.53% in the total market. The major protagonists of these figures are the new C3 Aircross, the Citroën Berlingo and the C4 Picasso, among others. On the other hand, commercial vehicles have seen a 15.41% market share and growth of 26.74%. At the same time, something we should highlight is that several of these vehicles are produced in Spain, such as the aforementioned Berlingo, which has more than 20,000 units registered, making it the leader in its segment.

As a result, we should mention that 60% of the vehicles sold in our country are produced within national territory. The Citroën C4 Cactus, which is exported from Madrid to the whole world, has registered 10,640 registrations over the last year. The C4 Picasso and Grand Picasso as well -which are entirely manufactured at the Vigo factory- have managed to sell 14,300 units, making them one of the most successful compact MPVs of all time.

Nevertheless, several vehicles have helped the French brand achieve this result. The C3, being the latest compact to join the Citroën line-up, has a total of 18,500 registrations in 2017, a complete success since its launch a year ago. At the same time, the C3 Aircross -an SUV derived directly from the conventional C3- has more than 2,000 orders from Spain, showing a promising future in terms of sales.

The managing director of Citroën for Spain and Portugal, Pablo Puey, has expressed his satisfaction with the successes achieved in 2017, “a year that has been a winner for Citroën”. As he has stated, “these results are a response to the success of a renewed and constantly evolving range of vehicles, as well as to the excellent work of the brand’s team and its sales network.” Pablo Puey has also expressed his optimism and confidence in the year that has just begun, “to keep growing with new models and services that continue to meet the needs of both private individuals and professionals.”

Citroën has always closed each year with a good number of sales but, little by little, that figure is increasing. This is due to the increase in models within the brand and the countless combinations these offer, which is a great opportunity for the customer to build their new vehicle exactly to their liking.
