Skoda Connect lets the parents of young drivers monitor their journeys

Skoda Connect launches a new app that makes it easy to monitor the journeys of car owners’ children Skoda

Skoda Great Britain has seen fit to include a new feature within the Skoda Connect app package. Parental geolocation now appears as another tool in the infotainment system.

Thanks to this utility, parents who hand over their Czech-brand cars to their children will be able to track their journeys as well as limit the area of use of the car via their mobile phone.

The British arm of Skoda has concluded that, with nearly half of drivers aged 17 to 24 economically relying on their parents to regularly use a car, facilitating movement with the family car may be, at the very least, known or managed by the parents.

That is why it is now possible to use Skoda Connect to limit the area or the permitted distance for drivers who have been lent a car, with the aim, according to the company, of reducing the total miles driven and the wear on the car, especially during the summer months or periods when owners are not using their vehicles.

Geolocate your children using Skoda

By marking an area in green, the parents of younger users of cars equipped with this tool will allow them to drive within the perimeter without any problem.

Conversely, should the set limits be exceeded, the cars equipped with the system would warn the parents of this situation.

Likewise, prohibited areas can be marked, which would appear in red and, should the car enter them, would trigger a warning call.

Skoda Connect sends alerts via mobile phone

The mobile app is free and is available both for phones with the Android operating system, from Google Play, and for iOS, from the App Store. Depending on the services contracted with Skoda Connect, it would send an alert through the app with a warning text message.

Satellite location can be switched on and off on demand and can even be scheduled by day or hour.

Other services offered by this tool to owners of these cars include real-time information on fuel level, trip information, whether the car is locked or unlocked, and where it is parked.
