Spiderman will drive an Audi e-tron GT in his next film

The new Spiderman film will hit cinemas soon, and it has already been revealed that the superhero will use an Audi e-tron GT to get around.

The partnership between Audi and the Marvel superhero studio has been renewed. The manufacturer has announced that several cars from the brand of the four rings will appear on screen in the new Spiderman: Far From Home.

The new spider-themed superhero film will reach the big screens next month, so apart from the characters, the stars will be the Audi A7, Audi Q8 and the upcoming new Audi e-tron GT.

We don’t yet know what roles they will play in the film, but Audi has already released a short in which we can see the Audi e-tron GT prototype in action. In the video we see a young Peter Parker (played by actor Tom Holland) and his best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon) entering the typical technology contest in a very typical American gym.

The two protagonists plan to present a small electric motor that they built with their own hands. Although the project may seem fascinating, as soon as they see their rivals’ entries they lose heart, since those are far more spectacular. It is at this moment that the two realise they need something better.

Therefore, Peter Parker decides to call in his contacts to get an electric motor that is “a bit more spectacular”. So, after a simple phone call, he turns up at the school with a spectacular Audi e-tron GT.

Sven Schuwirth, the brand’s representative, stated: “Teaming up with Sony Studios gives us the ideal opportunity to present the electric offensive of Audi in a spectacular setting”. Moreover, showing these cars on the big screen plays “an important role in the brand’s strategy”. So it seems this summer will be a busy one for the brand, starting with a grand appearance in the latest instalment of the Spiderman saga.

What is Spiderman’s car like?

The Audi e-tron GT is the third model in the brand’s electric family, after the Audi e-tron that we recently tested and the e-tron Sportback. The main difference between this protagonist and its siblings is that this electric car comes as a saloon, with a concept very similar to that of the Audi A7 Sportback.

The launch of the Audi e-tron GT is planned for 2021, although production will start in 2020. The new model will be the twin brother of the Porsche Taycan, which is already in its final development phase, since it will share a large number of components with the Stuttgart model. Therefore, its classification as a high-performance electric car puts the upcoming Porsche model and the Tesla Model S in its sights.

The Audi e-tron GT is based on the PPE platform created by the VAG group for its high-performance electric models. This allows lithium-ion batteries with 90 kWh to be fitted. Thanks to these, the range is 400 kilometres, and it can also charge up to 80% in just 20 minutes.

As for its powertrain, the Audi e-tron GT has two electric motors: one on the front axle and one on the rear. Together they deliver, with the right foot down, a power output of 590 horsepower, enabling 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and 0 to 200 km/h in 12 seconds, with the top speed limited to 240 km/h.

So there isn’t long to wait before we can see the new electric creature from Audi in the best cinemas, but what is clear is that Spiderman knows exactly how to move when he leaves his costume in the wardrobe.
