Suzuki Ibérica and Motul reach a collaboration agreement in Spain and Portugal
Suzuki Ibérica has ended its alliance with Repsol in order to sign a new collaboration agreement with Motul, which will take effect at its dealerships and in the Suzuki Motorsport team in the CERA
Suzuki Ibérica and Motul have reached a collaboration agreement under which the supply of the entire range of Motul lubricants, chemicals and products will be used across the official service network of Suzuki in both Spain and Portugal from 1 January 2020. In addition, the company will act as the official supplier to the competition team with which the brand competes in the Spanish Asphalt Rally Championship (CERA).
This means that Suzuki Ibérica is breaking with the previous agreement it signed in 2010 with the oil company Repsol, as no agreement on continuity was reached. As a result, the main sponsorship of the Suzuki Motorsport team in the CERA will no longer carry the colours of the Spanish oil company and will instead carry those of Motul.
The collaboration between Suzuki and Motul is nothing new, as the two have already joined forces in other major arenas, such as the MotoGP World Championship, where they have been working side by side for more than 30 years.
With all this, the alliance between the two companies promises optimal lubrication for all the engines of the cars sold in Spain and Portugal. Moreover, Motul fits perfectly with the Suzuki range, as it has been the first company to launch a range of oils developed specifically for hybrid cars.
The agreement between Suzuki and Motul will be applied both on the road and in rallies
In this way, the Suzuki Ignis Hybrid -included in our list of the cheapest SUVs with an ECO label-, the Suzuki Swift Hybrid and the Suzuki Baleno Hybrid will be able to benefit from this exclusive range of lubricants to keep their engines in optimal condition.
The main public face of this agreement will be the Suzuki Motorsport team. The Suzuki Sport R4LLY S, driven by Joan Vinyes and Javier Pardo, which will compete in the 2020 season of the Spanish Asphalt Rally Championship, will already wear the war paint of Suzuki and Motul.
This is the second agreement we know of from the Japanese brand this same year, as a few months ago Suzuki announced its agreement with Toyota to work on common models and technology.
Juan López Frade, president of Suzuki Ibérica, stated: “Both companies share our passion and enthusiasm for the world of motoring and competition. We are very eager to begin working with Motul in our dealership network and for its customers to benefit from its advanced technology.”
On the other hand, Ferrán Carreras, general manager of Motul Ibérica, expressed his satisfaction with the agreement: “For Motul it is an honour to reach an agreement of preferred supplier with Suzuki Ibérica. The alignment of values and business strategies, in which passion for motoring and ambition for technological improvement stand out, make Suzuki Ibérica an ideal partner for Motul. We are very pleased to have reached this understanding and we are confident that we will build a very beneficial relationship for both parties.”
