The 10 best-selling cars in the world in 2017
SUVs gain ground among the world’s 10 best-selling cars in 2017, thanks to the rise of the Toyota RAV4 and the Volkswagen Tiguan. The top spot still belongs to the Toyota Corolla.
As every year, Focus2move, the consultancy specialising in data and research on the automotive industry, officially releases its rankings of the world’s best-selling cars. And the news is that, at least for now, the number one spot does not go to an SUV…
Focus2move’s Top 10 once again places the Toyota Corolla in first position, despite a 6.6 percent drop compared with 2016. The compact from the Japanese brand is the best-selling model in the world in its entire history, with more than 45 million units.

The top four positions also include two other compact cars, the Volkswagen Golf and the Honda Civic. Among them, you may be surprised by the Ford F-Series, which ranks second overall. The Ford pick-up, which has led sales in the American market for more than 40 years, is the only model besides the Corolla to surpass one million units sold in 2017.

From here on, the rise of SUVs stands out. The Toyota RAV4 was the best-selling SUV in the world in 2017, in fifth overall position, followed in the ranking by the Honda CR-V and the Volkswagen Tiguan, which enters this Top 10 for the first time.
