The Bentley Continental GT3 in motion

Just when we had all lost hope of seeing an official Bentley racing again in any competition, the English firm arrives and presents the Continental GT3 at the Paris Motor Show 2012, opening an exciting new chapter in the history of Bentley.

The first return to racing for Bentley since its 24 Hours of Le Mans win in 2003 is scheduled for 2013. The race prototype is being developed by a motorsport team within the factory and, once they have the support of the FIA, it will be able to compete in endurance races and a wide variety of other events.

Development of the Continental GT3 will continue over the coming months, but it will not be until well into the future that we learn the brand’s true intentions. In the meantime, make do with an interesting video showing the new jewel in the English crown in action.

I don’t know about you, but for me, seeing Bentley racing around circuits again after the enormous number of achievements it has accumulated throughout its history seems wonderful. All that’s missing now is for them to build an LMP1 prototype for Le Mans, but knowing that Porsche is going to succeed Audi within the VAG group, I find that unthinkable at the moment.
