The continuity of aid for purchasing electric vehicles, under study

The PIVE Plan is still afloat and is heading toward a third chapter. However, the aid plan for electric vehicles remains in reserve, as its funds could run out by the end of September. According to the Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism, aid for electric vehicles will continue, but everything will depend on whether sufficient funds are available.
Does this mean that aid for electric cars is in doubt? According to Minister Soria himself, there is a willingness to continue the subsidy plan, but it will go hand in hand with the government’s liquidity. However, he has also said that there is no complete certainty about the technology that will ultimately be used, and these developments involve resources and time that will take a few more years.
If we coolly analyse what Minister Soria has said, priority is being given to the PIVE 3 Plan, with sales of the other vehicles on offer, casting doubt on electric vehicles. And although it is acknowledged that they “will be the future”, Spain is one of the European countries with the least developed charging network for electric vehicles, even though the number of registrations increases month after month.
With regard to infrastructure, Soria has pointed out that the Government will continue to support the policies that municipalities develop to install charging points; after all, no matter how many electric vehicles there are, if there is no point to charge them, they are of no use.
Let us hope that the Spanish government has not reached a point of doubt about the financial wisdom of continuing to support the electric car, as seems to be the case when reading the statements made from the Ministry of Industry.
