The Jeep Compass 2020 updates the engine range, with both petrol and diesel options.
The Jeep Compass 2020, the model positioned between the brand’s entry-level urban SUV, the Jeep Renegade, and the traditional off-road range of the American firm, updates the engine line-up and adds two new options. On the one hand, with the introduction of the 1.3 petrol engine that replaces the 1.4 MultiAir and, on the other, with the update of the 1.6 MultiJet II diesel engine.

The reduction in the displacement of the in-line four-cylinder engine also means a decrease in the power offered by this 1.3 from FCA’s Global Small Engine engine family, of which Jeep is part. It offers two power options, 130 and 150 CV, compared with the 140 and 170 CV of the MultiAir, and a torque of 270 Nm in both cases, 40 Nm more than the outgoing engine.
Despite the new emissions regulations on harmful gases and greenhouse gases, the aim of this new engine is to comply with the rules since, according to the manufacturer, in the Jeep Compass 2020 with this engine, fuel consumption is optimised by 30 per cent and, at the same time, exhaust gas emissions are reduced, specifically 27% less CO2 into the atmosphere, without compromising performance on and off the tarmac.
To this end, the SUV features new elements, including a Sport driving mode with various driving modes, which appears for the first time on this model, with a DDCT dual-clutch automatic transmission combined with front-wheel drive.
The new 1.3-litre, 130 CV petrol engine with manual transmission will be available on the Longitude, Night Eagle and Limited versions, while the 150 CV version with DDCT transmission will also be available on the S version.

And as far as environmental legislation is concerned, the 120 CV MultiJet II diesel engine of the 2020 Jeep Compass now features a selective catalytic reduction system with an SCR catalyst that reduces the emission of the much-feared nitrogen oxides, NOx. Despite being more restrictive, it delivers 120 HP and 320 Nm of torque, paired with the manual transmission.
A more customisable 2020 Jeep Compass
Other novelties that Jeep presents for the Compass, available from next June, relate to the colour palette: Ivory Tri-Coat, Colorado Red, Blue Italia, Blue Shade and Techno Green, all combinable with a black roof finish. In addition, up to 6 new wheels join the range, and there is a choice of four trim levels: Longitude, Night Eagle, Limited and S.
Finally, regarding the information, entertainment and connectivity systems, the 2020 Jeep Compass will feature the new Uconnect Services, including the My Uconnect mobile app. Once on sale, starting from the Longitude trim, they will come with a 7 or 8.4-inch screen that provides access to Uconnect services as well as other comfort and safety features.
Alongside this range update, it is also worth noting the imminent arrival of the Jeep Compass plug-in hybrid this summer. Marketed as the 4xe, it will be linked to the aforementioned 1.3 Small Global Engine petrol engine and paired with all-wheel drive; together with the electric motor, it will deliver 190 or 240 CV.
