The Jeep Wrangler X Special Edition will also be sold in Europe

Not all off-roaders come with a “latest” finish. Some keep the look of the originals, the ones that became popular many years ago. The Jeep Wrangel X Special Edition, a vehicle built to tackle the toughest and most demanding terrain while keeping the classic look that has made it famous for decades.

This special edition was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show 2014 and is based on the Jeep Wrangler 2.8 CRD Sahara, featuring a seven-slot grille in body colour with black inserts, above which sits a Power Dome bonnet with two air intakes. On the sides, the 18-inch wheels are shown in gloss black, and the Mopar fuel cap, also black, completes the look.

It will be available in four body colours, Bright White, Solid Black, Firecracker Red and Baja Yellow, all contrasting with the model’s exclusive hardtop. The interior also offers personalisation options, with black leather upholstery featuring sporty fabric inserts and slate grey stitching.

The interior is fitted with a fairly complete range of equipment. The leather-wrapped steering wheel has integrated controls. Comfort is enhanced by the air conditioning, Mopar floor mats and the UconnectTM infotainment system, which includes a navigation system with a 6.5-inch touchscreen, a 40 GB hard drive, a USB port, an auxiliary connection and a DVD player.

The available engine is the 2.8-litre unit producing 200 CV and a maximum torque of 460 Nm, with full-time four-wheel drive via the Command Trac NV241 system and a five-speed automatic gearbox. Buyers can choose between the two-door bodywork, called “Wrangler“, or the four-door “Wrangler Unlimited“. The former will cost 46,278 euros, while the latter will cost 48,861 euros.
