The Lexus LM is a luxury MPV that will not arrive in Europe

Lexus expands its range for Asia with the Lexus LM, an MPV that keeps the brand’s premium philosophy

Lexus has made its debut at the Shanghai Motor Show with new products that are more than large, above all in terms of the size of the new vehicle presented at the event held in the neighbouring country of the Japanese brand.

In China, Lexus has unveiled its new Lexus LM, a luxury MPV that, as with the rest of the brand, draws on the inspiration of Japanese hospitality, applied to a car aimed at the Chinese market and other markets close to it.

And in this case, luxury is exported to offer a vehicle capable of seating up to seven, but whose main strength lies in its four-seat configuration.

The luxury and comfort of this car are enhanced by the configuration of this MPV, which favours maximised space: exceptionally, it can reduce its capacity to four passengers, thus providing the greatest possible space for each of them.

Lexus LM, the premium offering in the MPV range

A space where you can enjoy the journey, work or make good use of your time while sharing the stay with the other passengers, in the broadest sense.

So much so that the interior design offers the living comfort of the Lexus models, close to that of a traditional Japanese home, with materials similar to the fabrics and materials most common in Japanese houses, such as washi paper, which is replicated in the texture of the upholstery.

And, as is good Japanese philosophy, discretion is a maxim, which is why, between the front and rear rows, there is a glass partition that can darken to preserve privacy between the front and rear seats.

At the same time, it offers features such as heated, ventilated and adjustable seats, a 26-inch multimedia screen, an audio system with up to 19 speakers, or a fridge with a 14-litre capacity in which to store up to two bottles of your preferred liquor or drink.

Lexus LM, with petrol and hybrid engines

The Lexus LM is a reinterpretation of the luxury saloon concept applied to MPV architecture, using as its platform that of the second generation of the parent brand’s models, Toyota Alphard and Vellfire. Both the Toyota Alphard and its Vellfire version are up to eight-seat vehicles that are very popular in the Japanese market.

In terms of mechanics, the Lexus LM will be offered with two petrol engines. Either the naturally aspirated 3.5-litre V6, producing 250 CV, or the 2.5-litre four-cylinder inline engine combined with an electric motor, i.e. a hybrid engine, the same one fitted to the Lexus ES 300h, a system that, in the premium Lexus saloon, delivers a combined output of 218 CV.
